Dear Parents and Caregivers,
In a highlighted broad brush, our current teaching practices reflect the outcomes of a bilingual curriculum, where learning through play becomes accountable, and our learning expectations  reflect the learning and development styles of your child’s formative years at Schoolhouse by the Bay and The Learning Ladder.
It is no surprise to hear the proposed changes in preschool by Prime Minster Lee Hsien Loong, as we have been in the forefront of meaningful learning through play for many years. With a progressive and purposeful play program, children learn and have fun at the same time. The concept of learning through play be “fashionableâ€ù or the latest buzz words in today’s educational circles, but we have employed this approach, and demonstrated our philosophy in English and Mandarin, since we were first established in 2001.
We have established a Parent Handbook Guide, which you will receive upon the registration of your child, and we do touch upon this on this website. Each Parent Handbook Guide will give you more comprehensive information on our English and Mandarin curriculum in all levels, such as Pre-Nursery, Nursery, and Kindergarten. This guide encompasses learning resources from educators in the field, and recent documents, guidelines, and directions from various educational institutions that promote our mission, vision, and philosophy of education. It has been specially designed to link current practices to our programme and to ensure that there is a standardization of quality and practice that is put into our programmes for Schoolhouse and The Learning Ladder.
Our learning culture has established exemplary standards since Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong officiated our Bilingual School Program in the Katong Community Centre, to which our students continue to embrace the joy of learning through play.
On behalf of our dedicated teachers and staff, we welcome you to browse around our website, and to feel free to contact or visit us in person to learn more about us.
We do hope that we have achieved our goal of introducing you to our established school-learning environment.
